Nothing was officially announced but the ever reliable iorr.org website had about 20 rumoured dates for late spring/early summer all over UK and the rest of the continent.
Now it apparently is not going to happen, obviously they are very old but hopefully it’s nothing too serious that has brought about this decision.
Will they play live again?
Personally glad I saw them last year in Cleveland and they were brilliant despite some initial reservations on my part about them continuing without Charlie.
Oh, hope this doesn’t signify anything sinister. I was surprised to hear they were heading back on the road so soon after the last round. I think it was two years ago now I saw them in Berlin (they were on stupendous form)
As I’m sure many here did, I saw the Stones at Wembley in June 1982, when it was widely rumoured that it would be their last tour… yes, 45 years ago, when Mick wasn’t even 40 years old, but we all thought, “yup, that’s it”… anyway, fingers crossed this is just a “blip” and nothing more serious… getting them on the road must entail a lot of moving parts at the best of times, especially now Mick & Keef are in their 80s, and presumably both have a blanket veto on any touring plans…
It could have been, Mick and Keith became increasingly estranged during the 80s, only touring again 89-90 when Steel Wheels came out. But, yes, it did seem a bit ridiculous they were still doing it in their late 30s, but I was 20 I knew nothing.
I turned down tix for Ashton Gate coz I thought they were too old
Who, the Stones or City’s forward line? 😉
I was at Ashton Gate in ‘82….and Robert Plant was sat a few rows back.
A heated blanket, no doubt.
I saw them a couple of times in 1982 (Newcastle and Leeds), thought they were really old then, and didn’t bother in 1989 as it seemed absurd for them to still be touring, and l wanted to remember them when they were ‘younger’. What a foolish mistake.
Ditto only my last and only was 1973.
My first in 1982 (Wembley) my last (?) in 2024. I felt they were on fire in the 1999-2003 period, saw them playing small theatres with mixed up setlists. But the stadium shows were great too, Twickenham in 2003 was incredible.

I wish them well but, surely, everyone who wanted to see them live has done so by now?
Sold out stadium tours would suggest not. My then 17 yr old daughter caught her first show last time. And, crazy how it seems, some fans have seen them multiple times!
I think there are those who desperately want to have the honour of being at the last ever RS gig. I thought that I might be one of those when I saw them at Newark in December 2012! Great performance though.
Fair nuff I suppose. I saw them once back in 1990 and that was enough for me. They were good but, overwhelmingly, I much prefer records to gigs and although I’m glad I saw them, I can’t say that I’d be interested in seeing them again. (But I often put on their albums…)
And that’s fine too. One advantage of seeing many concerts is the wealth of material you get to hear. I have heard 108 unique Stones songs live, representing all but 2 of their studio albums. Yes, I have a spreadsheet 😐
There are those travel around following them. Norwegians who we met at the Stockholm show because there was no Norway show. These people all know each other and must get the t-shirt each time. Rather touching really.
My schoolmate “Hi-Fi Paul” (so called because he runs a hi-fi shop) timetables his holidays around Bruce Springsteen gigs. He’ll fly out to the US or EU for a week and pack in 6 gigs in 7 days, or whatever. He’s usually front of the queue when the venues open, too. I don’t know how he sleeps…
I’m 2003 I saw 14 Stones gigs in UK, Switzerland, France, Sweden and the Netherlands. Best summer ever for gigs. Of course ticket prices were nothing like what they are today and flights were cheap. I was also single without a family. It was also a great social thing, I knew many people from a Stones online community and we would meet up and do a fair bit of partying too. An old friend of mine met his wife that way
Saw them 8’years ago and Keith and Charlie looked barely alive then. Sadly so in Charlie’s case shortly after
They were excellent but Mick and Ronnie carried the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if Keith can’t do it , and without him there’s really no point
Keith was pretty fine last year, sang 3 songs so was on the stage 3 more than Mick, who takes a break at that point, recent pictures showed him having a whale of a time on the Orient Express with his family.
Think he’s given up smoking and (most) drinking in the last 8 years.
Of course one can get pretty sick quickly at that age
