Terrific movie whose cutting satire is often overlooked by those just interested in shoot-em-up nonsense (lots of that, too). But five hours of background footage seems a tad too much

The great thing about Thunderbirds is that a fair proportion of the audience caught on fairly early that they were puppets in a scale model world.
I did ask Gerry Anderson’s son what happened to the marionette builders who built all the structures on Tracy Island, I mean the Tracy’s and Brains etc can’t have built them.
At the same Q and A with his son someone asked about the ‘puppets’ a voice from the back shouted “MARIONETTES.”

I remember when puppets first started agitating to be recognised as marionettes. The marches, the sit-ins, and most tragically the string cutting.
The reason why the puppets agitated for the change of name was probably because of the numerous hearing-impaired paedophiles who came along to their live shows
I spent my childhood wondering if there was a bloke with a scrapyard at the end of XL5`s take off area, waiting for his next delivery of used booster scrap!
