Not weird but the architect of multiple avoidable deaths.
One of the “Disinfomation Dozen” who between them were thought to be responsible for just under two thirds of the Covid misinformation on the internet, which included purported links between 5G and coronavirus.
Spread misinformation about measles which is thought to have led to a massive drop in vaccination rates in American Samoa, resulting in a 5.7k spike in infection and 80+ deaths
The main contributory factor leading to America Samoa’s measles outbreak was the deaths of two children following an MMR vaccine. Two nurses mistakenly mixed the vaccine with an out-of-date heart relaxant instead of water. They were convicted of manslaughter and were sentenced to five years in prison.
Out of a population of 200,000, there were 4,000 cases and 53 deaths, of whom 48 were children.
Vaccine misinformation fuelled the fire but isn’t the whole story.
Fair comment – it wasn’t the entire story, but he seems to have been quite involved. The was a NYT article – I found it but can’t link to it as it’s paywalled – that set out how Kennedy’s claimed the MMR vaccine had contributed to deaths of the two children.
Kennedy also sold his anti vax line to Taylor Winterstein, the wife of a Samoan (?) rugby player who developed a portfolio career as a social media influencer and conspiracy theorist. She repeated Kennedy’s lines which is thought to have added to the hesitancy that contributed to the large numbers of infections and deaths in both Samoa and Tonga in 2019.
Apparently, during the Republican convention, the Grindr app crashed in that area, so I’d imagine there’s quite a few among them with experience of tossing bears..
