I think this came up on here before but a new house, a new thread.
I want to rip my own – bought and paid for – DVDs to an external hard drive. Using Windows 7 or (still) XP. I want to copy the entire disc – menus/extras etc. I can do movie only but not the whole disc.
I have DVD Fab to rip and Roxio to create the ‘disc image’. But it almost always just copies part of the movie, leaving out the last 10 or 15 minutes.
Suggestions?

Not used Windows for a long long time, but I seem to remember that AnyDVD could rip the complete disc to an image. They have a free trial for 21 days do you can test….

Or try DVD Decrypter which is free (or can be)
Rip-it is good. Free for the first ten rips too
Have you tired ImgBurn?
It’s here: http://www.imgburn.com/
It should make an iso copy of the entire disc, and then let you burn that image file back onto a blank disc.
Don’t forget you will often need to use a double layered blank DVD to accommodate the size of commercial discs.
Can I be the first to say “Get a Mac” this time round?
Handbrake (https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php)
The Mac version works a treat, and the other versions are more than passable from what I hear…
I hate Mac so much that I run Windows on mine and just use the Apple bits for music. I’ll try these suggestions over the next couple of days. Ta.
I’ve been using MakeMKV recently and it’s dead easy. Another option, assuming no encryption, is Handbrake.
I think I’ve sussed what I’ve been doing wrong. My external drive is FAT32 and I have just found out that there is a size limit on that format. Now I need to copy everything over to another drive and re-format to NTSC.
Most DVD rippers are aware of the limitations of various systems and make sure they chop everything up small enough to not have to worry. Most will limit the size to 1GB but some will stretch to 2GB either will be OK on a FAT32 formatted drive.
