That’s a shame- only 46. I find him a bit hit and miss but loved Ratatouolle. I knew nothing of his wife until this post, sadly, but her true crime diary website looks right up my street.
Twenty minutes later no news, however am enjoying my morning cup of tea.

Actually it was about 10 months which, in late 60s parlance, is about 10 years.

As a childhood trainspotter (you knew I would be) I always have a little smile and/or Proustian rush at the verse in Accidents which begins:
“I see Simon standing on the railway bridge, spotting
He’s waiting there to see the fastest train”
Did you know the album version at 9+ mins is a completely different recording to the shorter single version? And it contains a kazoo solo.

Rod De’Ath was the drummer for Rory Gallagher between 1972 – 78.
Unfortunately, he lived up to his name and passed away in 2014
Three reasons for this spike in deaths of famous people.
1) Baby Boomers. Most recent reported deaths are of “Baby Boomers” i.e. persons between 50 and 70 years of age, born when the birth rate in Western society was unusually high. By the 1970s it had decreased again.
2) The rise of Television and The Media. A lot more of those Baby Boomers and people from the previous couple of generations are “Celebrities”, because the reasons -why- people become famous have expanded enormously. Previously, only film stars, royalty and prominent political leaders were well-known outside their own fairly local spheres.
3) Obviously, the death rate amongst those over 50 years of age is significantly higher than those in succeeding generations, as it always has been.
It’s not a strange anomaly that so many have occurred since the start of this year, it’s the beginning of a trend.
The “Heroes” are more plentiful than ever before and they are getting old. A lot more Celebrity deaths can therefore be expected in the coming years.
