Sad to hear Tower Of Power’s bass player, Francis Rocco Prestia, passed away yesterday, aged 69. In memory, here’s one of my favorite ToP tunes. Despite being 45 years old, the message is even more important today.

This takes me back to my student days when my housemates were all music students, mainly studying jazz. Tower of Power albums pushed all their buttons because it was funky but also incredibly chops-heavy. Though I’m more of a Meters person, I have to marvel at Rocco, an absolute beast of a player with almost superhuman fingerstyle skills. RIP dude.
