Sad news. I loved Department S and Jason King (there used to be whole episodes of both on YouTube which I rediscovered with delight), and that album is one of the more … individual items in my collection.
He was a great Number Two in an episode of The Prisoner as well.
Aw hey, that’s a shame, another part of my childhood gone… Department S and Jason King (along with the rest of the ITC Entertainment stable of programmes) were firm TV favourites on our house, though apparently those two shows didn’t get the repeat showings that others such as The Saint, The Champions, Randall & Hopkirk etc. benefitted from, because the Jason King character just didn’t work for modern audiences, though I think we need more flamboyant, camp, womanising, author-spy-detective-secret agents on TV! RIP sir!

Was in Pete Davison’s penultimate Dr Who story ‘Planet Of Fire’ aka the one with Peri in a bikini shot in Lanzarote. A couple of the crew borrowed his hire car for a spin round the island, left the road and totally trashed it. Returning it to what they expected to be a furious Mr W he told them “not to worry, old thing” and when he returned the car, threw the keys across the counter and complained about the disgusting state of the car when he had picked it up
Amongst all my other collections (is it possible to collect collections?), I have a decent collection of autographs, around 300 in total. Some sporting ones (Pele, Maradona, Best, 1966 World Cup team, etc), a few music ones (Nick Mason, Peter Hook, Pet shop Boys, etc), but mainly actors and crew from James Bond films, including all the Bonds and one of my heroes, Christopher Lee. But my very first autograph was way back in 1974, when Peter Wyngarde opened the new Woolworths store in Barnsley. I’ve still got it. It’s on a photo of him in all his Jason King splendour!
Also well known as the gold masked Klytus in the tremendous Flash Gordon. Winds up with one of his eyeballs on a spike IIRC.
