Obituary
A very sad loss to all fans of ABBA. Michael was the genius engineer behind the peerless quality of their production sound. He was the Fifth ABBA, their George Martin.
Though their miraculous return with Voyage was wonderful, many fans mourned the absence of MBT at the controls, saying that it just didn’t have that unique, special ingredient.
Tack, Michael.
I came here to post the same thing.
The music is in the ear of the behearer, but the recording was always state-of-the-art. Those mid-/late-period ABBA records sound like they could have been recorded yesterday. Or even better, given today’s suspect recording methods.
A genius. No ABBA sound without him. I do love Voyage though nevertheless.
My sister’s partner is Swedish. He has some Michael Tretow albums which sound EXACTLY like ABBA.
Top, top soundman.
Vila i frid.
Top job with ABBA, but he also had a huge novelty hit in Sweden in the 80s, of the kind that really gets on your nerves after a month or so…
His death was very big news here in Sweden.
He comes across as a very modest, charming and extremely talented chap.
