Obituary
»It is with great sadness that we share tonight the loss of our father, Flaco Jimenez. He was surrounded by his loved ones and will be missed immensely. Thank you to all of his fans and friends—those who cherished his music. And a big thank you for all of the memories. His legacy will live on through his music and all of his fans. The family requests privacy during this time of sadness and grievance.
Thank you!

I’ve been obsessed with Chicken Skin Music recently, can’t get enough of it. I loved the crazy mix of styles and Flaco was a huge part of this. The live stuff is even better.
Got to see him just the once in Leeds. Loved his playing.
Have the whole Moula Banda Rhythm Aces concert.

Now that is shame. As well as his presence on Ry Cooder and Doug Sahm records, I have 2 or 3 of his solo albums. I do love a bit of conjunto oompah, but the song I will play tonight, loud, will be this, a duet with Buck Owens, I think.
‘Tis a pity I’m spurred into investigating Flaco’s solo output by his passing
As Mr Retro states I also have those Ry Cooder & Doug Sahm albums on which Flaco appears
R.I.P. Flaco Jimenez
One you may enjoy, @pyramid, is the eponymous Los Super Seven, which are he, David Hidalgo & Cesar Rosas (Los Lobos), Freddie Fender, Joe Ely, Ruben Ramos and rick Trevino, plus various supporting artists, including Max Baca and Doug Sahm.
Thanks Mr Retro it’s on the way
Saw him at Womad once and it was just a gorgeous lovely set; one of the most memorable I ever saw there. A giant. RIP
With Dwight Yoakam.
Wonderful player. I know him mainly from Ry Cooder of course but he made such a distinctive sound.
