Morty is a dumb 14 year old suburban kid with a regular life until his UFO-driving Granddad comes to live with his family. Suddenly he is travelling through time and space having crazy (and very funny) adventures. So what we get is a show combining the dynamic of Doctor Who (co-creator Dan Harmon, on his previous show Community, created the character of Inspector Spacetime, which was an affectionate homage to The Doctor) and Back To The Future (a white haired old man/teenage boy teamup) utilising the infinite effects budget of Futurama as it’s also an animated show.
The 21st century has seen a parade of sh*tbags as protagonists on American TV and Rick Sanchez is one of the baggiest yet. His exploits are almost almost all motivated by selfishness and he cares nothing about the potential consequences for .. oh, what’s the word? ..oh yes – humans. His presence in Morty’s life is a cause of endless vexation and peril to Morty’s Dad and show chump Jerry.
Rick And Morty is genuinely smart science fiction full of ideas, an imaginatively designed animation, and frequently pantwettingly funny.
‘Might appeal to people who enjoyed Futurama…’ made me think it might appeal to my son ( nearly7) but having done some investigation, maybe not. Or rather, it would appeal to him but perhaps not suitable. 😀
Lawks! I never considered kids might watch it. There’s sh*tload of swearing, sexy bits, many violent deaths and some very dark ideas in there. Parental discretion advised..

In your “might appeal to” list, you mentioned all of my son’s favourites. He’s 12. So we’ll definitely give this a whirl. Thanks!
