My pal Trevor ‘Legsyboy’ Leeden, one of the legendary taste-makers of the Antipodes, forwarded me this video. I thought the AW might enjoy it. (And stick around till the end.)

Interesting but doesn’t compare to the real thing – heard this album for the first time recently

I went see her last Monday. Her band includes Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkel and Waddy Watchel (Waddy wasn’t in the touring band), and if you don’t know these names Google them.
They were the cream of LA session musicians in the 70s and 80s and played on any number of records by Joni, Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon and loads more.
Vince Black says
Damn! I saw that on Bury Met website and thought it was poor show that were suggesting that Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel would be playing in her live band. Except of course they obviously wouldn’t because those kind of guys don’t play those kind of venues. Apparently they do!
hubert rawlinson says
Indeed they did.

Bloody hell! Quite a makeover! Certainly made me want to listen to a few more tracks.
Baron Harkonnen says
I want that!

Marvelllous! Is that the same Judith Owen who played with Richard Thompson on his 1,000 years of music shows?
Gatz says
It is indeed, and also Mrs Harry Shearer. On my Facebook page there are now grip-and-grin pics of me with her at the mercy desk and Derek Smalls in the concert hall. I spotted Debra Donkin (percussionist on the 1000 Year project) in the crowd too.

I’d never heard of her before this. But to hear the production values and the info that she has a load of 70s US guys on her record, one can assume she’s got a bit of money.
Gatz says
Mercy desk? Damn this autocorrect, and the lack of an edit function. Merch desk. It’s ‘merch desk’.

They put it out on an EP last year with Summer Breeze, Summer Nights , It Might As Well Rain Until September and erm Blue Jeans all getting similar treatment. Rather nice too

I have her album Happy This Way, and rather fine it is too. She’s apparently released four since then (and five before). I had no idea.
Kaisfatdad says
Just remembered! She did a nice Spinal Tap Xmas cover.
