If you’re a Beatles fan and were considering buying the newly released book of Paul McCartney’s lyrics (and have the money, as it isn’t cheap), don’t hesitate, buy it. It’s the best new Beatles related book for a long time. It isn’t just a collection of the lyrics (for 154 of his 500+ songs), there are hundreds of never before seen photos from the McCartney archives, including photos of the original handwritten lyrics and other artefacts, but the best bit is his song by song commentary. This isn’t just related to the composing of the song, but contains loads of information about what was going on at the time the song was composed.
I’ve only dipped in and read a few random entries so far, but there was loads I’d never read/heard before, so he’s gone way over the ‘it came to me in a dream, and I had to ask everyone if they’d heard it before’ type anecdote. And the books look great in the outer slipcase too. Honestly, if you’re a Beatles fan you won’t be disappointed.

The Italian National Anthem is one of the great NAs of the world, though it could be replaced with the theme tune for the film ‘Grand Prix’, and noone would notice. I also love the Sri Lankan, which never stops when you expect it to.
I hope one day that they both play each other in the T20 cricket World Cup.
