Method: book a hip-hop headliner and other rock-bloke threatening acts eg Wolf Alice (ewww! girls!)
Result: lots of free publicity, and people are talking about the Reading & Leeds festival for the first time since about 2002. Job done!
Perhaps Cropready should announce a set from Skrillex next time.

I saw the headline and thought they were taking a year off.

The other point of view is that the organisers of Glastonbury/R&L would not be doing their job if they turned down top drawer acts like Kendrick, Beyoncé and even bloody Kanye when available expecting the punters to shell out major moolah to see the likes of Coldplay/Kasabian yet again..

I thought R&L were quite grime heavy over the last couple of years. When I saw the line up it just seemed like a natural progression. It’s not like they’ll be asking The Enid back anytime soon, eah?

Who knew the Kooks were still a thing? And Kate Nash!
Moose the Mooche says
Why, is it not still 2008?

Readings had rap headliners for the last 20 years so I don’t see why this is news now. Of all the acts booked Kendrick Lemare is by far the most interesting. It’s the other bands on the bill that are bobbins. Do many 16 year old actually care about Sum 41 or Papa Roach nowadays?
