I am a jazz fan but don’t like jazz guitar much. That said, I am a big fan of his band Oregon and some of the ECM stuff.
Only ever played acoustic guitar.

This album has been a favourite of mine for a while – it was where I first heard Ralph Towner in action.
One of the greatest acoustic guitarists. I picked up his first album Diary back in the late 70s and have followed his career ever since. His playing was always interesting and very dynamic especially on the 12 string. This track also shows that he was no slouch on the piano.
His solo ECM albums have been favourites of mine for years. This track from the 1974 album, ‘Solstice’ is beautiful:
