Good choice…..
This is sad news.
The Tragically Hip were a band that I’ve cared about for many years demonstrated by my staying up all night to watch last years farewell concert which finished at around 4 in the morning UK time which was just the time that I and the rest of the family had to leave for the airport and go on holiday. My wife did and still does think this was daft and it may have been but I wouldn’t have done it for many bands.
Unlike the recent Tom Petty death we’ve known that this was coming, still sad though and glad I got to see them at Manchester Uni a few years ago; they put on a darned good concert.
Haven’t checked the news sites but suspect this will be big news in Canada it was stadia over there not Manchester academy 3!
the above is from his first solo album “Coke Machine Glow”
Yes, huge news over here as was the final concert broadcast live coast to coast on CBC in presence of Prime Minister. Not really a fan, but clearly a decent guy who lived out his final months with immense dignity.
This gives a pretty good summary of why they meant so much to many Canadians.
