That all-important top, um, 46.
Including Peter Gabriel is a bit hopeful.
Is Mega Bog anything to do with Bogshed?

Lucinda and Sparks for me
Sparks are “the greatest comedy duo to emerge from the new wave scene” apparently. New Wave? In 1974? I suspect the Pitchfork journo wasn’t around to talk about TTA’tBEFTBOU in school the day after it was on TOTP.
How do they measure anticipation?
With only two of the 46 releases of any interest to me personally, I would rate my level of anticipation as being next to rock bottom.
I would like to propose that we AWers conceive of an anticipatory spectrum that runs from “Robert Wyatt” at zero (as in Rock Bottom) to “John Miles” (as in Sky High) at the toppermost of the poppermost 46.
Any other posters care to musically calibrate the remaining 40-odd slots?
I’ve heard of – get me! – 19. I’m not anticipating be buying any until I’ve heared them first, and then only two or three.
Calibration – midway point –
@salwarpe
Let’s add Stealers Wheel and call it a dead heat
I see Pitchfork feels zero anticipatory yearnings for the reworking of the 4th best selling album of all time by the guy what wrote it.
Which album is that Gary?
I’m guessing..
Dark Side of the Bat
or Moon out of Hell??
Tubular Bats?
Statistically, I believe it’s Come On Over by Shania Twain. A reworking is long overdue.
Depends on your source/sauce. According to Wikipedia, it’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’. With Shania coming in at a none too shabby 1,267th. According to Dean Gafney’s Big Book of Made Up Facts it’s ‘Vintage Cider’ by The Wurzels

Certified sales only, baby.
Looking at your “source” now I see it’s already gone up one place to number three! That’s probably cos the people reading this discussion have just ordered it.
And you labelled Shania “a guy”. Which is probably transphobic.
The joke doesn’t really work as well with Led Zep I’m afraid.
Really looking forward to the Bonny Doon album. Absolutely loved the last one, which sounded like a much more stoned Loaded era Velvets. Great lazy Summertime record.
The tracks released ahead of the album sound really good.
Nice to see that there’s a new Hayden Pedigo album coming along.
I love all his stuff. Quality artist.
Anticipated by whom? Not by me I can tell you.
Anticipated by Pitchfork. It’s in the title ⬆️⬆️⬆️
And who they?
They’re the people anticipating these 46 albums.
What 46 albums?
These 46 albums.
Well, I’m happy for them.
I’ve got the new Clientele one on order
Yeah, I am also looking forward to that.
Some pretty big names there. Janelle Monae and Christine and the Queens are certainly usually worth checking out and the Dudda Tassa/Johnny Greenwood could be interesting.
I must admit, the Dudda Tassa/Johnny Greenwood was already on my radar. I read an interview where he mentioned micro-tones. Phwoar! He’s my guitar hero, etc.
Using very small guitars?
Or fretless? Pino on bass?
Ah, I see…
Adrian Belew used a fretless 6-string electric on “Three of a Perfect Pair” – can’t remember which track(s)…
Well, that’s just Belew showing off again.
Bearing in mind that this is Pitchfork, I’m astonished to find that I’m aware of 15 of the artistes, although I only knew about one of the albums (Sparks). So, anticipation-factor close to zero.
However, I will now be buying the new Jess Williamson album – so, a worthwhile exercise all round! 🙂
For Pitchfork, this is very mainstream indeed.
I’m looking forward to lots of female vocals: Janelle Monae, PJ Harvey, Meshell Ndegeocello, Jenny Lewis, Arlo Parks, Kari Faux and, erm, Queens Of The New Stone Age
Only P.G.’s offering interests me from that list but I’m getting old.
I doubt it’s the only album I’ll buy over the next 4 months.
Edit: I’ve just read @fitterstoke’s post ^^above^^ and decided to check how many of those artists I’d heard of…15 but the blurb on Hayden Pedigo interested me so I’ll be checking him out.
Always good to get some PG tips.
Genuinely looking forward to Beth Cosentino (big fan of Best Coast), Bully, Clark, Killer Mike, Mandy Indiana & Squid.
A few big names (QotSA / Janelle Monae / Sparks / P.J.Harvey / Taylor Swift, in ascending order of anticipation) where I’ll probably give them a listen to out of curiousity.
May well investigate “Feeble Little Horse” as the description sounded interesting, and I’m also genuinely not convinced that they’ve not just made them up.
The world’s least anticipated online list of forthcoming albums for 2023 after The Afterword.
Looking at that list and the comments on each one, it’s no wonder that I’ve never bothered with Pitchfork.
Slim pickings is a phrase that sprang to mind.
Slim Pickins was at number 47, with his much-anticipated “Bumgun Blues” album…
