I’ve been very happy this year with some good value local gigs – Villagers / Orla Gartland / Mick Flannery / Black Pope done and with Soda Blonde in Limerick and Stars (of Canada) in Galway to come. I was thinking that maybe I was done with the expense and hassle of the big stadium or arena gig, but this could make me change my mind…mind you, I haven’t looked at ticket prices yet!
I went to see him in 2003 and musically it was a great concert. I felt a bit too much time was given over to preparing the stage for the next ‘set piece’ .. and whilst each one was visually stunning it kind of interrupted the flow of the concert .. well at least in my opinion.
I would have gone this time but I think the ticket prices are an obscenity. Most I have paid to date is £100 to see David Gilmour and I felt that was my upper limit. I think I’d be more inclined to go and see that ABBA Voyage thingummy – like Gabriel it will be visually arresting, the music is unimpeachable and I understand tickets are in the region of £50-60.
The ABBA tickets are *from* that kind of price, but do go up to £100+. However, as it’s a smaller arena, you get a great view and experience from wherever you are located.
We had standing (dancefloor) tickets (49 quid plus fees) and got there late (but just in time) having just flown in from Canada, so we were right at the back of the GA section (but in front of all seats), view of all screens better from that position rather than at the front I think. Every seat probably good enough.
Ha! Great minds/fools seldom etc.
Note my use of the box to link the tour dates
Is it a box or a wardrobe?
Good one!
I`ll buy the album, the tour Bluray and with the change from not buying a ticket a weekend for myself and The Baroness in New York.

I felt much the same Max the Dog until I looked.
The lead on the roof up at Real World must need replacing.

And you should. It’s a glorious night out

I would be very surprised if Gabriel’s Minions are not monitoring sites like ours to discover the grassroots reaction to the news of the tour.
There may even be a Mole in our Midst, reporting back daily to the Watcher of the Guys.
“His is a world alone no world is his own,
He whom life can no longer surprise,
Raising his eyes beholds a setlist unknown.”
