As a City fan who remembers the dark days of the nineties, and earlier, the arrival of Pep is, if not unexpected, still extra-ordinary. Pellegrini has conducted himself with consummate dignity and the club, if not exactly covering themselves in glory, let Pellegrini announce his departure as a planned event rather than the undermining of Mancini and Hughes that they indulged in last time round.
So bizzarely although we are still in 4 (realistically 3, we will go out to Barcelona in the quarters) competitions the rest of the season feels like a prologue to full-on Pepmania. Roll on the v-neck jumpers.

Exciting times for city, and a no brainer really though I feel a bit for Pellegrini. He has always struck me as gracious and it would be good for him to to go out on a high. It would be interesting to see what a difference he makes. Pleased he hasn’t gone to Chelsea and will his arrival signify the end of the permanently confused Brian Kidd. City fans really must be pinching themselves.
All we need now is Mourinho at Man Utd and Simeone at Chelsea. That should provide a bit of spice for next season.
I should think their agents are adding a ‘0’ onto their starting salary position as we speak.
Ha! What have agents contributed to modern football? Zero. Or sometimes two or three zeroes..
Indeed! Mourinho would of course jump at the chance to manage Utd but Simeone leaving Atletico is less certain I think. It would be enthralling to witness though. Add Klopp, Wenger and Pochettino into the mix, and not forgetting Il capo di tutti capi Ranieri. Interesting times…
Massive news for City. Pep could turn them into genuine European contenders. Pellegrini is a likeable man who has done a good job, but with City’s resources they should do a lot better.
