Over the last few weeks Fabs fan Paul Merton has been looking at some “what ifs” of Beatledom, namely “What if they’d never broken up? What if they were still playing live? What if they made another album?”
Of course the Afterword did this years ago, but I thought some of you might find this four part Radio 2 series of interest. Tonight’s final episode concludes the second part on the 1974 album that they could have made. Will it compare to the AW’s version? What will @tiggerlion make of it all? Does anyone care?

I’ve Get_iPlayer’ed it for listening when I have a half-day job to do, so don’t print any spoilers.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll have a listen when I get a quieter moment.

Paul Merton’s suggested Beatles album titles:
The Royal Regiment of Cowards
Innit Marvellous?
Give Him A Bowl of Fruit and He Thinks He’s Isaac Newton!

The “Radio Times” had Merton’s programme on their cover, but of all the “Pepper” programmes it’s the most dispensable, not least because, regardless of its worth, it’s surely a theme best suited to the anniversary of “Abbey Road” or “Let It Be.”
Baron Harkonnen says
Thanks minni, I always find this theme intriguing. I have a collection of 5 ‘what if’ Beatles albums compiled from their solo albums. Yes I’m a Beatles saddo but someone showed me them on-line, so I didn’t compile them. That’s my excuse.

They could have had ELO backing them on the, er, more orchestral numbers 🙂
Clive says
This is either totally untrue or known by everyone except me but wasn’t the original idea that ELO were formed to tour Sergeant Pepper?
