I am being dragged kicking and screaming to the world of podcasts, but after hearing a greatest hits version of Fake Heiress am thoroughly hooked (Radio 4). I can get with the dramatisations and breathless narration, but the OVER-LITERAL USE OF MUSIC NOOOOOO… so after a party scene it’s ….. Lust for Life.. when the creditors come calling…. Money’s Too Tight to Mention… finally taken down by the Feds…. It’s All over Now Baby Blue.
Come on! Have these people never seen a Tarantino movie? Unbelievably annoying.
ps I am 87.

I never take a walk by myself without Big Walter’s Walking By Myself in earphones. Don’t want get confused.
Are all podcasts like this? Or just this one.
Not all podcasts are like that, no.
Many podcasts use bland free-license background music and beds, so I was surprised to hear y’know, actual tunes in the Fake Heiress.
I really enjoyed the podcast and have been pondering on who is the winner here – the strange unrepentant girl at the heart of it all, with her unbelievable self-delusion and hubris, or the people around her, many of whom seem to be doing pretty well out of their association, especially the rather anodyne Rachel DeLoache Williams. But Anna Sorokin is now apparently engaged in two memoirs, there are two dramatisations of her story on the way and our society being what it is, I have no doubt she’s be feted and celebrated upon her release and her dream of running her own investment fund might not be outside the realms of possibility.
Sounds like the same team that picks the b/g music for Homes Under the Hammer.
For a moment I thought you were referring to the Theme From The Funky Estate Agents, which is one of the marvels of C21st television.
My thoughts, too, re Homes Under The Hammer. Literalness beyond the parameters of Viz’s Mr Literal. Someone rings a doorbell, they play Let ‘Em In, but not the ‘knocking at the door’ bit, only the ‘somebody’s ringing the bell’ section, because the former isn’t true.
Thanks for a very amusing OP, Mosely.
I can understand your frustration at the shameless lack of imagination. Then again, there are moments on podcasts, TV shows, movies etc where the imagination of the choice of soundtrack puts a big smile on my face.
Like when Wagner pops in to pre-school favourite, Pocoyo.
