You’ve probably heard about it – the German anti-foreigners group Pegida has released their “anthem” on several music portals, and despite being an instrumental, it went to the top of the charts here and apparently sold shiploads.
Today Amazon Germany announced that they will donate their entire earnings from this song to a refugees help organization.

I’m interested Fatima, how has Amazon’s response been received in the German media?

German news media reported this with giving thumbs up to Amazon, but mostly mocking the Pegida movement, what with their “hymn” having backfired. But remember, Amazon is not that big in Germany – they can’t discount books (due to the law of fixed prices) and have to deliver everything for free if an order includes just one book or magazine, and as a result bookshops and their everything’s-available-next-day system are still very much alive (in most cases it’s more convenient to look something up in Amazon’s online catalogs and then order at the bookshop round the corner and pick it up the next day). Amazon also – after several severe strikes last year – had to give in to minimum wage legislation, so they’re not regarded as the “Big Evil Multi-National” like in the UK.

Well, good for Amazon, but this is very depressing if it’s true…
