I had some emotional news tonight of a positive but not conclusive outcome. Of course I set out to understand that through music and the above though I never realized it before gives me comfort and hope.

Apologies for the grammar. Emotional.

As always, this is an invitation.

Nothing wrong with being emotional.
Mrbellows says
I’ve always hated that song.

Doncha just love it when people do that?
Junior Wells says
That’s a bit ordinary – solicit nominations and diss the first one you get ! Sort of discourages others from participating don’t you think?
Mrbellows says
I didn’t mean it to come across like that. I was just pulling Lodestone’s leg. Sorry for the offence.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
When you live with Bellows, in his attic if you ask, you take this kind of behaviour for granted. If it wasn’t for the money and the sex I’d have gone back to Gary ages ago.
Mrbellows says
Me too. Wonderful pasta.

I love the live aspect here, niallb.

This is the number that always takes me out of my body, closing my eyes and tapping my feet, giving me time to think and reflect, good or bad events notwithstanding. It’s just so life affirming it’s ridiculous:

This keeps me grounded in both good and bad situations –
Stiff Little Fingers – My Dark Places

Certainly helped me.
It’s become a bit of a mantra

I can always retreat to this:

This is lovely, can’t believe I’ve never heard it before.

The last few weeks have been as emotional as they come for me, unfortunately.
This album has provided some solace in a grim and dreadful time when I needed to listen to something that wasn’t “up” or indeed “down”. I needed some music without lyrics that made things worse and this was perfect.
In a shameless plug for some good that has come out of a bad situation, my son and his partner started a GoFundMe page that has done so well since last Friday night when it went up.
Please feel free to share on any platform or even donate a couple of quid if your giving pot has anything in it. Other good causes are available obviously!

Lodestone of Wrongness says
Bloody hell, Razor Boy! Don’t know why a tragedy like yours resonates more in times like these but it does.
mikethep says
Gosh, that hit home…so sad.
Tried to donate, but it said: Campaign not ready. There’s an issue with this Campaign Organizer’s account. Our team has contacted them with the solution! Please ask them to sign in to GoFundMe and check their account.
I’ll try again later.
Razor Boy says
Thanks so much , it is truly appreciated…maybe this link works, or search Our Sweet William on Go Fund Me

Got there in the end, but I had to change browser. Weird.
Razor Boy says
Thanks so much Mike !
mikethep says
You’re welcome. Please give your son and d-i-l my best wishes.
Razor Boy says
Yes, a funeral at this time seemed more desolate…Only 15 of us as numbers were controlled, distanced obviously and some people (inc my wife as she is classed as vulnerable) couldn’t attend which was sad for all.
Shit times in shit times.
hedgepig says
Oh my, Razor Boy, I’m so sorry. No words. All love to you and yours.
Razor Boy says
Thanks Hedgepig…much appreciated.
Junior Wells says
that was going to be my nomknation
Mrbellows says
I’m so sorry for your loss. Donation on the way.
Razor Boy says
Many thanks for your kindness.

What a glorious gesture in the face of such sadness and grief.
Donation made and very best wishes forwarded to all concerned.
Razor Boy says
Thanks so much V V …people have been very kind.
A quick update, this afternoon a company that works in the same industry as my son has said they will purchase a £1,500 “cuddle cot” outright and the Go Fund Me has reached £5,888.00 since last Friday.
Just incredible generosity in difficult economic times for most and this will help people coming behind them in the sad situation. A lovely upside to the downside.
Blue Boy says
Oh Razor, I’m so sorry. All the best to you and your family
Razor Boy says
Thanks for your kind words Blue, much appreciated.

Just a great tune.

I can’t say there’s one song that I’ve held onto down the years, but in these troubled times this has given me a big hug.

Always this. And I am barely a fan. (As in the afterword meaning of ‘fan’, having merely six or so albums)

Another one, a restorative go to for me

Every so often one is reminded how magnificent Van can be. Cheers, Junior

This is ALWAYS the one. Fantastic if I feel great and will dig me out of pretty much any hole. It’s just joyful.

This one. ‘River Man’ by Nick Drake.
It’s placated me many a time, or just made me feel blissful.
The Good @pencilsqueezer even made a piece of art for me based on it. ‘Edges Ebb and Flow’. It’s on his website to view. The original is on my wall.
Mrbellows says
It’s so beautiful.
Mike_H says
Not someone you’d normally associate with music that gives solace, but nevertheless..
Mrbellows says
That is sublime. Thank you @Mike_H

This one soothes as good as any

In my will to be played at my funeral, that one. Always love it, but this has been doing the business right now, played super loud:

@dkhbrit Oh I love that one. The a-la BeachBoys harmonies are wonderful.
