I’ve been decorating this weekend, listening to a broken FM radio with a coat hanger for an aerial which can only receive Radio 2. They’ve been previewing this doc about the influence of the Sex Pistols gig at the Lesser Free Trade Hall.
I claim I was there, despite it being a (primary) school night. And living in rural Hertfordshire at the time. I bet Johnny C was, though.

I was there. Also when the Quarrymen played the school fair and Dylan went electric
That’s nuthin’. I was in the band. All of them.
You probably overlooked me due to my uncanny resemblance to a mic stand.
I got your autograph though
🙂
But which concerts of recent years will be remembered in that way. Any predictions?
I was there at the Barely Works final gig, after their van broke down on the way to the hall, probably doesn’t cut it.
I was there at the last night of the Nashville Rooms, tho’. Any Trouble were playing.
It’s a good theme Steve albeit a piss take.
We’ve all been to a heap of gigs but which gigs can you cite as landmark gigs? And Concheroo, get to the back of the queue.
I’m stumped for any apart from a rather sad one . Rowland Howard he of the writing of Shivers at 16, Birthday Party, Crime and the City Solution, These Immortal Souls was waiting for a liver transplant. Never got it. Got off his sick bed to promote his latest record and have a performance filmed. Died inside the month.
I think the spin is that present in the small audience were future members of Buzzcocks, Joy Division, the Smiths, the Fall, and (I’m guessing) Crispy Ambulance. All will revealed at 10pm.
My landmark gigs are of more local appeal. I was at the last night at the Cambridge Boat Race, which was headlined by the Soft Boys (I think – it was a boozy night). I put on Eric Roche’s last ever gig in the basement of CB2 cafe. I booked, and did the sound at, The Incredible Flight Of Birdman’s first ever gig (they were “the new Smiths” for a while). I forced Boo Hewerdine to play his first solo gig in years, which was recorded and released, and rejuvinated his solo career.
I also saw the Stone Roses at Reading Festival, which was legendary for a different reason.
I was at the crossroads when Robert Johnson did a deal with me. I am Beelzebub.
