This is from an album called The Scale – I can’t recommend it highly enough. This is the only sample I could find…I don’t think it’s the best tune, but there you go. I’m sure I can hear Ratledge samples in amongst some of the sounds used on the album.

She reminds me a little of Nico …
Reminds me slightly of Diamanda Galás, but singing flat a bit too often in that second clip.
That’s exactly what put me off! I’m sure she has plenty of soul, but I’m not sure she can sing.
I was going to compile a list of vocalists, beloved of the Afterword, but of whom it might reasonably be argued that they can’t sing. Then I thought, what’s the point?
