I much prefer The Kennedys to Bodh- Danny B’s effort. It had a real energy and zip that makes Cradle To Grave seem flat footed. Great kid as Emma as well
Although, the 70s? Ottowan’s DISCO was a new entry in TOTP 1980 this week.
Maybe I should write into Points Of View or the You Say column of The Sunday Times supplement
No doubt used in the same way as Video Killed The Radio Star is used to signify the 80s
(It was 1979 – it may only be one year, but these facts ARE important).
Badly placed music, or even an incorrect car registration plate has me writing on the Daily Mail website
“Do the producers realise that my enjoyment of the show was ruined when the lead character arrrived in a brand new Ford Cortina. It was supposed to be 1976, yet the car clearly had a T registration plate. Surely your researchers must realise that T was 1979. Oh, and the Cortina was not a GL as suggested because it did not have a Rev counter and only had a 2 spoke steering wheel.”
(Maybe I get too wound up about these things?)
And back on topic …
Both much of a muchness – marginally preferring The Kennedys (albeit based on 1 episode). The DB one seems to be a bit of a dilution and has lost something in translation
I find the otherwise excellent verisimilitude on Moone Boy (a show which could use its fantastical element as an excuse for not trying) spoiled by taking liberties with the music. Well, that and Deirde O Kane’s “Data from Star Trek” face..
I hated the f***ing 70s. And the 80s too. Then, when I turned 20 in 1990, I felt thoroughly depressed. Turns out it was the beginning of a great adventure. I will not go back there. Not even for a moment.

Hopefully this most 1970s of products will appear at some point.

I am probably swimming against the tide here, but I am thoroughly enjoying Cradle to the grave.
