I have no idea when the charts are announced these days, but I heard on radio 4 yesterday that the Christmas number 1 is a spoof Joan Jett thing called I Love Sausage Rolls, which I’m guessing is every bit as hilarious as it sounds.
The number of people who care what the christmas no 1 is must be ever diminishing so if a charity can benefit and i never hear it, it’s a bit of a win win as far as I concerned. I went through the xmas no1 quiz in the Guardian last week and hadn’t heard of the artists for most of the songs mentioned let alone heard the songs!
Yeah the Christmas no. 1 was decided yesterday as the charts come out on Fridays. I haven’t heard the record in question (Sausage rolls) but I believe it benefits homeless charities so that is a good thing.
I’ll make a mental note to give a little extra to a homeless charity along with a silent prayer that my reward is never to hear it.
The flaw in your plan is that if prayers had any way of working, there would be no need for homeless charities!
Suffering is part of the human condition, a way for us to demonstrate our love of God. Even if prayer worked, there’d still be homelessness.
Proceeds go to the Trussell Trust, which operates food banks. Glenn Tilbrook is also a great supporter, and has had collections for them at all Squeeze and solo gigs this year.
I love sausage rolls is down 56 places from 1 to 57 this week. That must be some kind of a record!
