That’s my 100 day streak, that is. Given the capricious, not to say mischievous, nature of my Starter Provider, I’m thinking I should be given some kind of special award – “Player of the Tournament”, “What a Guy!”, “Give Me A Choice And I’ll Make The Wrong One” (see line 3 today) – something like that?

I wake up in the morning somewhere between 0630 and 0700 and switch on Radio 4. As my brain slowly crunches through its waking-up gears, I sleepily listen for the first five-letter word that floats across the airwaves. No STARE, CORSE, ARISE for me – just a completely random different word every day. As any “follower” (fact check needed) of mine knows this mostly leads to a blank on line 1 (which, as Leedsboy will testify, is sometimes no bad thing but more often than not leads to at best a scrambled par or bogey.)

I have indeed used it! One rule is never to use the same starter twice – so, for instance, with The Shipping forecast there is no more North, South, Force, Rainy etc…..
