One of my favourite songs from one of my favourite albums. “They say Jonah he was swallowed by a whale, but I say there’s no truth to that tale, I know Jonah he was swallowed by a song.”
In sci fi films, is there not a common meme of a small space ship being “gobbled up” by far larger one. I am thinking Star Wars but I’m sure there are many other examples.
This young lady was on the wireless at lunchtime. I forget her exact phrase, but it went something like “The croc bit my sister, so I punched it in the face. Then it bit my arm, so I hit it with my other fist.”
Further proof that the most dangerous animal in Australia is the human.

I met Jonah Lewie in 1991. Nice chap.
In the kitchen?
Don’t be a fool, what would I be doing at a party?
Sandhurst, then. Excellent
.
More Jonah and his cetacean friend.
Or there’s this.
“Jonah he lived in a whale
He made his home in
That big fish abdomen”
George Gershwin, 1935.
The things the you’re liable
To read in the Bible
It aint necessarily so.
Strictly speaking, his brother Ira, but then as Ira Gershwin said “A song without music is a lot like H2 without the O”
Thanks Junior! That has to be the most extraordinary new story of the week.
A few days ago I watched Matteo Garrone’s new version of Pinnocchio.
He does the scene with the giant whale very well. I couldn’t find that on YT so here’s Disney’s telling of the story from 1940.
Pieter Lastman did a rather decent painting of Jonah and his finny friend in 1621.
A very popular subject in medieval pictures.
That’s a beaut. Love the castle in the background. The fish looks like a pike.
Now it’s time for the Sunday sermon about Jonah and the whale from Father Mapple.
Orson Welles in fine form.
If that’s a whale my dick’s a kipper.
Better Moosey?
Marginally, although at least yer man up there was decent.

Here’s one from a show called Rocket Robin Hood.
