The quite lovely album from Ala.Ni that this song is taken from arrived at my drum yesterday.
Inside was a booklet from the French label No Format, Ala.Ni’s label. It contains what seems to me a rather good offer. One pays them either €50 or €60 plus €9 to cover postage and they send you every release on the label for a whole year.
That’s €50 for CD or €60 for vinyl. That’s less than £50 for the CDs posted to your door.
They have a very interesting catalogue of music to boot.
Has anybody availed themselves of this offer? If so how did it go?

As long as they release at least five albums a year, that’s pretty good!
Looking through the catalogue it looks like way more than five a year.
My interest is piqued.
Cooking vinyl used to have subscription deals that were of such appeal, but the trouble is always the risk of new signings. Or no new signings.
I may give it a go for a year. Lots of interesting African music in their catalogue. Some blues, French electronica, hip-hop…
The Ala.Ni album is starkly beautiful. If that is a good sample of their usual standard it should make for an absorbing year.

The website link below shows what the pass got you for 2014 & 2015 – as far as i can make out, 2015 was 2 albums, 4 EPs & a signed print, 2014 was 3 albums, 1 EP & a booklet. There are also invites listed, though I suppose it depends on geography how useful that is.

No Format has always impressed me enormously as a record label.
I have 4 of their albums on CD and one on vinyl, and they’re all superb.

This offer of theirs sounds pretty good, I reckon.
Their catalogue certainly has a fair bit that I find intriguing. I may give it a whirl for a year.
