As a fair-weather Cave admirer, I loved this when I last saw it in 2008. It was repeated at 2am.

“Series of unique concerts featuring musicians from around the world at St Luke’s in London. Nick Cave and his band perform a set drawn from their latest album Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! and a 20-year repertoire including The Mercy Seat, Red Righ Hand and Deanna.
By turns menacing and hilarious, Cave comes on stage like a Southern preacher in the festooned, converted church and soon has the appreciative crowd hanging off his every word, while the Bad Seeds are at the top of their game behind him.”

To me, the high point of the classic era.
I’ll acknowledge he has a few exceptional songs, but I’ve tried and tried, but I just can’t find his performances bearable for more than a few minutes. He sings off key a lot of the time, and his faintly ridiculous Gothic shtick just gets my goat. I even have a few of his albums, but they never get played past the first couple of songs. His attraction essentially remains a mystery to me I’m afraid. What do people think he does that is so great?
Maybe you needed to go to a show Foxy.
Too late though, that era is gone.
Never considered it Junior, due to the off-key warbling.
As with the Taylor Swift contoversy, I find myself once again concurring with your good self, Double Vulpes. I’ve oft mentioned both here and in the proper world that I really like a few tracks on the Push The Sky Away album (especially the title track and We No Who U R), at which point someone always says “then you’re bound to like The Nazarene Smote The Blind (or some such similar title, but usually one that I haven’t just made up) and I check it out only to find I’ve not the slightest desire to ever hear it again.
Outstanding Nick Cave title!
Could only be the Oz circus horror show ringmaster in all his pomp.
Oddly enough, having resisted the charms of Peaky Blinders until about five weeks ago, I was finally moved to buy a two-CD Greatest Hits at Mrs JG’s instigation. While not particularly inspired to explore any further, it will get dug out and played more than the only other one I’ve got of his – the Lyre of Orpheus or something. Terrific lyricist when he gets off the Western preacher schtick
I quite like NC&BS but found my attention wandering as I watched this. Turned it off after about 25-30 minutes.
