I like it. I accept that it’s a different band to the famous version, but since the last album they have got a new mojo. It’s sometimes good to detach the music nerd brain, and just listen to something.
Preferred it with the sound down. I found the voice really shrill and the guitar in the middle made my teeth ache. I was going to ask if it was referencing Follow You/Follow Me but then I realised that was Genesis.
I admit, I gave it a cheeky listen yesterday. Who or whatever they are, they certainly don’t appear to be dialling it in, which is good. Furthermore, I’ve now got the Aurora line earworming itself around, which hasn’t happened with a Yes track for a long time.
Steve Howe may also be mindful of, er, “tempus fugit”. Maybe Jon Anderson making a bit of an effort is making them up their game, too. In fact, it sounds to me like a track from a solo JA album.
The thing with Prog you can love it, hate it or don’t give a fcuk.
Me? I love it, in fact I don’t hate any music but I don’t give fcuk about a lot of it.
Being a fan of Yes* when I heard a new album was being released I wasn’t exactly drenched in expectation but having listened to that track I agree with others Steve Howe and his mates have definitely upped the ante. Then there’s also new music by John Anderson and a tour this year.
My only real reservation is the drumming – rather too prog-generic-hit-that-tom-on-every-beat, which is something most current ‘prog’ bands seem to do. Where’s the percussive nuance gone when you need it?
I’ve never been a big fan, largely because I can’t get on with Anderson’s voice, but this is a good track. I also admire them for still producing new music, despite their numerous ups and downs (and ins and outs). I don’t expect to be buying any new Yes album, but if they’re still making a lot of people happy, more power to them.
Two better questions might be: has anyone heard it? And is it any good?

Me too, it’s refreshingly oddball, and reassuringly north of seven minutes long. More like this please.
I thought ‘Mirror…’ might have been a final flash in the pan – but maybe not!
In terms of current/recent Yes, this is good stuff!

It’s very hooky for prog.
Is it still that sort of thread?
It’s turned into a love fest. No complaints here.

He probably is, yeah… he plays well on this, in a few different styles too. Such an underrated guitarist.
Not by some of us…

*Not of everything they’ve released.

Nice. But would I want to listen to it a second time? Probably not.
