(Could someone please explain the Brian Kennedy ājokeā to me . Please? I feel Iām missing out on something culturally important.)
Hah-bloody-hah.
Freddy: BK’s BVs with VTM never extended beyond an echo of Van’s last muttering. That’s it. Hilarious, I know.
FWIW, I vaguely know BK socially, he’s a lovely fella who just wants to sing. All the time. He has little or no filter, which can be entertaining when you’re somewhere quiet and he pipes up.
I wonder if they will have the rights to sell back catalogue on this site? There’s some ’70s gaps in my Van collection…this is the only product they have at the moment. It could be surprisingly great…
I know Veedon Fleece was apparently unavailable a while ago – I was filling in CD gaps and annoyingly it was nowhere to be seen. Just checkedā¦no CD but I can have a vinyl copy for Ā£142 from the dodgersā¦..er, maybe not.
You could be on to something there lads – I just pre-ordered the instrumental album from the site (I have a good feeling about it) and there’s an album discography there with THREE albums not listed (that I know of) There’s the two albums you point out above and one more, also featuring a former partner – Days Like This. https://www.vanmorrison.com/music
Name changed from Esoteric Records to Orangefield Records BTW.

Love the instrumentals on Inarticulate Speech of the Heart, ok that was 40 years ago, but it could be mildly interesting

Love the way the button marked ‘More details’ simply displays the same page minus the strapline and removes the button marked ‘More details’. Genius.

I believe he has promised some archive releases using this new method of distribution
SteveT says
He said that about 10 years ago – still waiting.
Jaygee says
Given the minimal level of care and attention VTM has shown to his back catalogue thus far, I wouldn’t hold my breath, J
Mike_H says
Probably worried that paying attention to his back catalogue would affect sales of his current output. Which it might well do.
Jaygee says
A few years back, there were two omissions from VTM’s CD sleeve jacket catalogue of album covers.
Anyone here care to hazard a guess what those omissions are and what they had in common?
Colin H says
They were the only two decent ones?
Jaygee says

Nope, not Veedon Fleece
Blue Boy says
Tupelo Honey and You Win Again. No-one will miss the latter, but the former is a really gorgeous record that deserves better.
The common link? The album covers feature Van with former squeezes, respectively, Janet Planet and Linda Lee Lewis. Petty, Van? Perish the thought.
Jaygee says
Give that man a hamper!
TH is a truly bizarre omission
