First new album in 8 years from the Pretenders due out in October.
Whilst production by The Black Keys Dan Auerbach looks interesting, the line up of musicians doesn’t seem to include Martin Chambers – so is this a Pretenders album or a Chrissie Hynde solo album. Begs the general question as to what defines a solo vs a band album……
Anyway, still looking forward to it and definitely on the buy list (even before hearing !!)

New album even – what happened to the edit function. Posting from an ipad – does it not work on that ?
That ain’t the Pretenders, it’s a pretence, given away by the “alone” on her knuckles. Clearly her last solo record under her own name took a hit without the band name to deliver it. Pity if she has ditched MC as he was a palpable link to the past when she brought him back in, as well as being a topsolid thumper a la Gilson Lavis school of bashing with aplomb.
I was just about to post something similar, but I have a long-standing affection for The Pretenders / Chrissie Hynde in whatever incarnation, even if it’s years since she / they put out a really decent album.
Bum, man, bum.
iirc, Chambers was replaced by Jim Keltner on the last album, – released around 2009/2010, something about Concrete. It was poor. Chrissie Hyde had developed into self parody, in the only song I remember, she used that ca-atch in her voice in every bloody line.
Happy Birthday Chrissie! 65 today. I can’t believe she’s actually slightly older than me.
