Look! The National have got a new album coming out in May! First new song ‘You Had Your Soul With You’ features Gail Ann Dorsey and sounds pretty good, and there’s a short film to go along with the album, directed by Mike Mills. Oh, and tour dates too (I’ll be at Kelvingrove Bandstand in August). *end of public service announcement*

Must be just me but I find them far to worthy.
I have a couple of their albums – okay but in need of tunes. The exception was the Dark was the night compilation which they were heavily involved with that was brilliant.
Some great stuff on Dark was the Night, right enough. I keep meaning to get Day of the Dead, the (kind of) follow up.
not THAT Mike Mills, unfortunately. Still, excited about this.
Yeah, it would be quite a comedown to go from being in England’s unbeaten 1982 World Cup squad to directing films for fair-to-middling American bands..
