Ah Steve, just missed you, we were there yesterday! If anyone’s not been before my advice would be wear some decent trainers…it’s absolutely vast. We were in there from 10 till about 3 and it was a bit overwhelming in some ways. Take a lunch because as you suggest, the queues are long and the food isn’t cheap. Have some rough idea of what type of vans you want to look at because it would be impossible to get round them all. Hope you enjoy it.
Ha, Squarecore…I’m down with that!
Squarecore is inspired by the Dadaist dictum that one should be regular and conventional in one’s habits and appearance, but radical in artistic and ideas judgements. I’m all for metal bands that look like born again Christians, or punk bands in catalogue / car boot sale clothes. Tats, piercings, leather, and funny coloured hair are for unimaginative conformists.
Handily, the door closest to the car park was where most of the campervans were, so we saw about two-thirds of them. After four hours we had only done a third of of the halls, but we’d run out of steam, our feet hurt, and the other third were spread out more thinly.
Mrs F can’t really do ladders, so that ruled out the pop-tops, and our driveway is only just over 6m long, so that ruled out the extra-long wheelbase vans.
Also handily, the two campervans we liked most (a Fiat and a Peugeot) were on stands next to each other, so we could compare easily by popping between one and the other.
We’ll probably go again in 2025 and 2026 with a view to buying one when Mrs F retires ready for summer 2027.
Can I just add that having worked for the Japanese electronics conglomerate in the early 2000s for a few years, I don’t remember them having campervans in their portfolio.
Square-core. Love it. Wish more folk wore sensible slacks and a fleece.

I’ll post advance notice for that cuppa!

Well, Chris, I laughed. I doubt many more will, though…
Squarecore humour!
