National Album Day is back and, like Viz, not as good as it used to be. What started as a celebration of the long-playing format has turned into yet another RSD, with a plethora of inessential coloured vinyl.
This year’s theme is Rock, hence the inclusion of, er… Amy MacDonald, Mozart Estate, T’Pau. List includes albums by both Kasabian and Stereophonics.
Although I might buy a copy of the Hole LP if I see it cheap later.

Mozart Estate. *Shudder*. Rarely can an artist I’ve loved so much – for 10 Felt albums and 1.5 Denim albums – have produced music so crap. I mean, I know the crapness is kind of the point, but surely he doesn’t expect us to listen to it, let alone pay for it?
Having looked it up, it’s also one of the ugliest album covers of all time.

Lawrence, truly, you spoil us.
Baffling isn’t it. Felt produced some of the most unique, and at times beautiful, albums of the 80s, although maybe a fair bit of that was down to their guitarist, Maurice Deebank. I also thought the first Denim album was great although the second had many worrying signs of what might be to come. Go-Kart Mozart and Mozart Estate are nonsensical and tiresome.
Nonsensical and tiresome – exactly that!
The full list didn’t appear in the OP, so here it is (scroll down to the bottom of the page):

RSD at least has some interesting, never before on vinyl, releases. I am well over coloured vinyl at least as a reason to buy. My white vinyl Let it Be copy from 1978 continues to increase in value.
It looks like next year’s bargain bin contents… slim pickings.

John Earls really is a diamond geezer.
I’d missed that Hope of the States LP. I remember playing it a lot when it first came out on CD. I’m not paying £35 for a copy, though!
Might be interested in The Coral if copies are still around when I am over about a month afterwards
Judging by how cheap I picked up the last one, I’m predicting there will be plenty left. I think most/all of last year’s NAD releases are still in circulation.
