hence my archly ironic inverted commas (a la Stephin in fact) – the package was big enough to make it difficult to open the door, lucky I didn’t damage it.
Stuffit it’s brilliant, he’s brilliant., I’m brilliant. you’re brilliant and its a brilliant record…other opinions may be available but will be worthless unless they are brilliant.
I am convinced there will be brilliant songs upon it. Just as there will be unlistenable vaudeville tosh. As with the overall superb 69 Love Songs that contains some utter cack. As I have said elsewhere, having come to Merritt courtesy Peter Gabriels’s version of Book of Love, on learning Merritt had disparaged same as losing his intended humour, well, I would sooner cry than laugh to music
I got as far ’98 Lovers Lies at work today, absolutely brilliant stuff. Needs more listening time but shaping up to be as good as 69 Love Songs.
I ordered “50 Song Memoir” today.
Really looking forward to it.
Really looking forward to that. Hopefully one of the albums of the year.
Incidentally, does anyone “release” albums any more? These days I read all the time that an artist has “dropped” a new song.

My finger has been hovering over this. Please do a Nights In!
I will …once I have listened 6 times unless someone beats me to it 🙂
