Ladies and gentlemen. I thought you might like to see my new Pencilsqueezer. I already have one which I bought “off the shelf”, as it were, but this one was commissioned from Peter.
I’m biased, of course: but I think it’s exceptional – and, of course, it speaks to me in a very direct way.
I struggled a bit to get a photo which was an accurate depiction of the real colours – I ended up taking it outside this evening – and I’m still not sure it’s quite correct (although it’s the best so far).
The jpeg which Peter took for me can be found on his website, on the first page of images:

With many thanks to Peter, our very own @pencilsqueezer – a gem-like thing, indeed.
I’ve lived with my Pencilsqueezer for a few years,, and one of the things I most enjoy is how it has entirely different perspectives in differing light. You’ll never capture all the moods of one of these paintings in a single image.
A belter!
Marvellous! What’s its name?
The Island Girl.
What I gave Peter was bound up with my feelings for the island and Margaret.
M was Manx and didn’t do well living in cities (she tried twice, before I met her). I moved to the island for work and stayed for M, 30-odd years ago. I now see the island through her eyes. Most of you will be aware that M died two years ago – Peter has managed to look inside me and produce this. I can’t fully explain what it means to me. I wasn’t going to write all this but it seems to have spilled out anyway
It’s a stunning artistic response to a moving brief – I am sure it will mean an immense amount to you.
Grit. Respect and love. How great we can be at our best.
Dusty today. Man hug Fitz.
I understand. Peter did the same for me, after the death of my wife and I had a similar experience – he somehow managed to look inside me and produce something marvellous and meaningful. It’s a talent as rare and beautiful as his art, I think.
The Beautiful Unpredictable Geometry Of Elaine & Kevin is on the same webpage as yours. Like you, I can’t put what it means to me into words but if the house was on fire, it’s the thing I’d take out with me.
I don’t know how he does it – but I’m glad that he does…
…and mine is a little further down the same page.
The Caterpillar and the Stars.
Another beauty.
Stunning.
Outstanding. I bet there are many hours of detail in there.
Incredible. Thanks for sharing
Wow!
So Peter has a new framer? Hurrah, as I know he was saddened by the retirement of his last.
Saw this as FB work in progress and have to confirm that the frame adds the gravitas of the picture without it. Which, despite having some on the wall, had never fully appreciated.
Your comments about he ‘reaching in your soul’ is so apt it is uncanny, able to find, from often little given info, exactly the right mood and meaning.
I initially apologised to him, for giving him a brief which was all feelings and no subject – but he caught it and ran with it; and managed to produce something which represented all the stuff that I was struggling to get across. Remarkable, really.
That’s fabulous Fitter. I have a few Squeezers and everyone who walks into the room where they are involuntarily stops and gazes vacantly at them. Gift that keeps giving.
Indeed – nobody has seen this one yet, but the other one I own is always commented on by visitors, seems to demand their attention.
That’s fantastic. Maybe I need some Squeezer in my life.
A sentiment with which I can only agree…
Nice. Thought it might have some vinly connection.
Not this time, Junior…
That is wonderful
Beautiful.
Thanks folks.
It was an unalloyed pleasure working on this for you Fitter.
My painting has altered and shifted into a space I’m content with. Certain new aspects and media to my practice have been introduced and a few older methods and subjects have been removed. As Retro mentioned above my framer of forty years has called it a day so I supply work unframed now. It’s not ideal but there isn’t any alternative. The upside is my patrons get to choose how to frame it. I think Fitter’s framer has done a fine job. FWIW.
Wonderful
Great colours. Evokes many things.
Great stuff. Absolutely adorable.
