‘Loving You is Killing Me’ the new album by Jake Shillingford and his band of merry My Life Story music makers. an album of lyrically excellent power pop influenced bangers, not the orchestral songs of the first couple of albums but a very strong follow up to ‘World Citizen’ and they are going to sound great played live. i know there are a few on here who enjoy Jake’s music, possibly not as much as me but I think it’s well worth a listen and passes the six listen test.

Played it for the first time this morning and its is a very strong follow up to World Citizen. There is quite a Stranglers bass sound in there which bodes well for the live versions.
Highly recommended!!
Freddy Steady says
A Stranglers bass sound is a good thing.
retropath2 says
You mean a Roy Wood bass line ( redubbed after Rick Price quit.)
Uncle Mick says
You say Tomayto…..
Rigid Digit says
Yes say Tormato
Uncle Mick says
“Applause”
SteveT says
Never heard of them

Try “12 Reasons Why I Love Her”. If you don’t like that, you need not explore further.
Moose the Mooche says
Hmm, that doesn’t really represent what they sound like now. Jake doesn’t do the vibrato on his voice any more. We’re all moving less than we used to.
fentonsteve says
No, but if you’d only heard one MLS song, it’s probably that one.
Uncle Mick says
From the last album. Bright shiny pop music!
Nick L says
Saw them live a few times in the 90s, usually as a support band, and they were very entertaining. Always really liked the “Strumpet” single, so will be giving this a listen. As Uncle Mick says above, bright shiny pop music!
