Can anyone recommend an iTunes alternative music management tool for mac that doesn’t require pretending to still use windows? Preferably free/cheap. After my iPod classic died last week I’ve followed the recommendation of others here and gone for a fiio x3. I think the sound is definitely miles better – assuming I have not brainwashed myself. Although I am still getting used to the different buttons and slightly slower response times the only big downside at the moment is that each time I add an album (as I have been in the habit of doing 3 or 4 times a week)it updates the whole library and with 110g that can take half an hour. May need to time my updates a bit better. This has encouraged me to look at managing the library better. Music monkey sounded the trick but running on mac looks unduly complicated. What do other mac users here use as an alternative to iTunes? Is it worth the effort?

I’m always on the lookout for something that does the job better than iTunes, but for all its annoyances and over-complications, it’s still the best that I know. But I don’t use maybe 90% of its features, especially all that open onto the Apple walled garden. I’ll be interested in the responses, but I’m not expecting what we all want* from anyone.
*Simple, quick, easy.
Agree. I don’t want to shop, or stream, or share just copy the music I buy (mainly cd’s and the occasional download), sort out things like album art, and file. So maybe iTunes it is?
Funnily enough I’ve just finished reading an article that might be of interest to you:

Interesting. I am exactly the kind of user described there – I want to keep my music organised and accessible and I could not care less about the extra gubbins bundled with iTunes these days. I did look at Swinsian a while back. Didn’t take the plunge then, but the update described in that article sounds helpful.
started to read the article but my ad-blocker meant i couldn’t finish it. Will look up swinsian thanks.
