Following up from my multiple award winning thread from a month or so ago, and to show that I can follow the mods instructions bu posting videos in the comments, I bring you more new stuff…..
More new tracks that have struck a chord and you think others may like….
Kamasi Washington / Prologue
– taster track from the new album due in May, a fine piece of sax from the modern jazz supremo. This one grabbed me on first listen and I’m looking forward to the album
Slash featuring Brian Johnson / Killing Floor
– guitar legend plays an old Howlin Wold track with Brian Johnson on vocals and Steven Tyler on harmonica… what’s not to like ? A taster from a new album of blues covers due also in May.

Kamasi Washington / Prologue
Slash / Killing Floor
Very much enjoyed the Slash track. Will be looking out for the album. Thanks for posting.
Slash’s website suggests Paul Rodgers, Billy Gibbons and Iggy Pop will also be involved
Yeah, I had a look. Some of these cover version albums have been bobbins. If they are as good as this one, I’ll be well chuffed.
Slash band very slick, possibly a little too slick. A bit more grit might have been nice. Liked the harmonica and guitar solos though.
I thought Brian Johnson was one small step away from Pub Singer.
He always was…
…it’s a long way to the top when you’re in Bon’s footsteps.
I think he does more than alright.
To hear the epitome of Godawful Pub Singer, look no further than Mr. Rose. Slash must love playing with Brian.
Agreed – my comment looked far worse than I intended, especially given the ghastly comparison which you invoked.
He’s probably OK for AC/DC but I’m not a fan so I’ll leave that to others. Didn’t work for me here at all though.
Totally agree about Axel Rose’s horrendous screeching.
How Geordie, stoart the clap machine!
The best new thing I’ve heard so far in 2024.
The second best.
That Knocked Loose track is quite astonishing. Breathtaking. Thanks @Bingo Little.
Will I be dragging DuCool down to see them at the Slaktkyrke (Slaughterhouse Church)? Will I be there, sliding around in the moshpit mud ,when they conquer Roskilde?
I fear it’s more likely that I’ll be slinking off to see that Albanian free jazz collective playing their John Betjeman tribute album.
My loss!
Yep I love the new Four Tet – looking forward to the album, out Friday.
And I can confirm that the new Four Tet album, Three, is a fabulous listen.
There’s this off the debut album by The Last Dinner Party. Sounds of the past, both Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush a bit. That vocal is also a little like Anna Calvi. Generally very nice.
Howlin’ Wold, the Lincolnshire blues legend.
“I asked for water, she gave me Bateman’s”
Arf Moose!
I really like this – it reminds me of something and it is killing me trying to remember. A bit of a Fountains of Wayne feel:
Excellent, tuneful, jangly stuff. A grower.
Real Estate still have a lot going for them, @SteveT.
Real Estate are one of those bands like The Shins who release albums faster than I can keep up with.
I know six albums in 15 years isn’t really much, but I can’t honestly say I’ve played any of them more than once, apart from Atlas (which is now 10 years old!)
Too late for my Blogger’s Round-Up this month, here’s a bit of new Welsh “cymriana” from Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, called Clawdd Eithin.
It’s appeals in a gentle unthreatening way that grips my ears.
Very appealing indeed. Diolch yn fawr iawn, Retro!
