No mention of Bandcamp, which I would say is the current heart of the revolution in Indie music
Very chart-music angle in that article. Genuine question: do Bandcamp sales count towards the UK charts?
Bandcamp and the company mentioned in the article are different in a number of ways. TuneCore have become a significant rival to established music companies like Universal as they offer a way to get music onto platforms like Spotify, Apple, You Tube and collect royalties on their behalf without having to sign life away with a “major”. TuneCore don’t sell or stream direct to end users.
Bandcamp focus on the end user bit, giving artists somewhere they can release their work, control prices and be clear what about they get paid. Bandcamp don’t place music with the streamers.
I used to buy Sounds and Record Mirror and be happy and up to date.
All this stuff is beyond my comprehension and makes my brain hurt.
I have never knowlingly seen a Tiktok. Let’s face it, we are dinosaurs.
I hadn’t until a couple of months ago when I did a job for them in Paris. I’m none the wiser as it was all in French.
If TikTok is a platform then I’m just too old to even start to get it and how it’s changing music or not. In other old man news the younger took our excellent Logitech z333s to uni. So rather than look for ‘best
Pc speakers under £50’ we just bought them again. The subwoofer also makes an excellent footrest for Mrs Moles.
Couldn’t really care less. I only buy second hand vinyl and heritage deluxe CD box sets.
