Sounds bloody brilliant.
Looking forward to seeing him the Chrome Hearts with VTM suppioting next Thurs in Malahide Castle (although not the getting back – sounds like a fucking nightmare)

Here’s the setlist – two from Greendale and nothing from the new album.
Given that he’s one of the few acts who could play a different set every night, be “innaresting” to see what other curios and classics the man pulls out of his Casey Jones cap as the tour progresses
Sugar Mountain
Be the Rain
When You Dance, I Can Really Love
Cinnamon Girl
Fuckin’ Up
Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)
The Needle and the Damage Done
Harvest Moon
Looking Forward
Sun Green
Love and Only Love
Like a Hurricane
Name of Love
Old Man
Rockin’ in the Free World
Not a bad setlist – would prefer Cortez the killer over Fuckin up which I never much cared for aside from that good.
@Jaygee are you going to David Byrne in Dublin? I just got tickets for MrsT and me.
Yep. In block b. Should deffo make plans to meet up.
Have you guys got a hotel yet? Suggest you move pdq
As I think the six nations may be on.
If you use booking.com, you can always use the free
cancel if you pull out at the last minute
Thanks for the tip off. Hotel booked – not as cheap as I had hoped but it is our wedding anniversary weekend.
Good set.
We saw him at this venue last time round with Promise Of The Real. That was really great. This time prices doubled. We live about an hour’s drive away. If you get a downpour it’s not fun. Also the quality of the performance was uncertain this far down the road. Sounds like it might have been worth it though. When we were there he was distinctly loquacious announcing, this place rocks, as he looked up at the stone cliffs facing him, but enough about the reserved Swedes. A Walk On in the black forest.
We got Revolution Blues though, which was nice. One of his best for me though there are many. Like Cortez which we also got.
Dalhalla sounds like a great name for a viking themed vegetarian restaurant.
👏
The Winds of Dalhalla blow hot from the south… eat there at your peril.
The reason why there’s nothing from the new album is because he’s planning to play it twice at Glasto.
Once in the style of ‘Trans’, once that of ‘Everybody’s Rockin’ ?
In fairness to Neil, recycling is very much in keeping with the spirit of Glastonbury.
There is also the fact that with eight days to go before hits the WF stage
he could easily record and release two even newer albums between now and then
2 shows coming up in Toronto later in the summer. Probably going to pass, as I saw him same venue last year with Crazy Horse and tickets are very expensive. That was a sensational gig and may end up being the last full CH gig ever. They played one more curtailed show after that in Detroit and then cancelled the rest of the tour.
Neil, Ralph, Billy and Poncho/Nils could reconvene for one last
go round and call themselves
Neil Young and Crazy Hearse
As it happens today is the 50th anniversary of the release of Tonight’s the Night. He wouldn’t, would he … ?
“Here’s one you might remember…”
Full concert from last Sunday here
With just the first song and encore changing each night, set list seems to be pretty – um – set. Of course, Neil being Neil, that may very well change
Would imagine he’ll start of at Clastonbury with After The Goldrush. Am hoping we get Pocahontas or Four Strong Winds as tomorrow’s opener in Dublin
Emily Eavis has confirmed his show at Glastonbury won’t be filmed. Perhaps to avoid the world witnessing his butterfingers strumming and the failure to sound check before coming on stage. (As in, actually, that was a bit shit. He is increasingly looking and sounding like an old busker, down on his luck, even allowing for his historical sartorial choices.)
With the exception of Bruce, I can’t think of anyone I’ve seen who has delivered more consistently excellent live shows.
As I have a feeling this will be last time around for Neil in Europe at least, I think I’ll have to be make allowances for a few fluffed notes, etc
Shame he’s not on TV though
I think he will be all over YouTube in varying quality, not withstanding how good a performance it is. There’ll be drunken tilting views with bystanders loudly chatting and singing along awfully and other remarkably well filmed and recorded clips by those who know how. Neil can’t do a thing about it and all those brutal comments will come, so he’s the Canute of rock.
Same as every other concert I’ve been to these last 15-plus years then
Well the point is in reference to stopping BBC coverage, that footage will be broadcast anyway.
But it won’t be a big Glastonbury moment shown live as it happens.
It will be just another concert.
Think Neil has been a bit silly by refusing to have it shown on the night
That’s what I mean. Silly to object. It’ll be out there anyway.
So negative. Go and see him, he’s still got it. Fuck YouTube
The reviewers at Ucunt and Mojo who reviewed nights one and three of his current tour certainly thought so
He was absolutely magnificent in Dublin last night. Van M’s opening set was bloody good, too.
Sad hez’s refused to let the Beeb broadcast his Glasto performance
I was tempted, @Jaygee , but the thought of getting to and from Malahide was off-putting. I used to live nearby and I remember the narrow road in and out. I preume extra DART trains were put on? Glad you enjoyed it…
Bloody awful venue to get to – a half an hour trudge to/from the venue from town .
Terrible weather all through Neil’s set but, wow, he was good. Van and his -piece band were excellent, too
Love him singing Four strong winds
No acoustic intro last night -straight into Be The Rain. Rather appropriate given the rain bucketed down for lengthy periods.
