We are about to move house and thought it would be nice to do without a landline and so I went for 3’s (Three) current offer of a HUAWEI AI Cube Router – unlimited data, 4g, 24 months contract. It also has Alexa built in and seems to work really well.
I am, however, struggling to get my Spotify linked to it and I thought, as it has Alexa it would be straightforward! Any suggestions would be welcome
I should add that after a few hours I have linked my Sonos Play speakers and, whilst I can play music via the Sonos app on my phone I cannot get toto operate via a voice command through the HUAWEI
Two questions daff.
Is it a premium Spotify account?
Have you downloaded the Alexa app to your phone?
Yes to both! I am usually okay with basic tech stuff and, after a few false starts, I can get things sorted.
I’m assuming that you’ve set Alexa to recognise your Spotify account as your primary source?
You have assumed correctly – that is why I am so baffled!
That is odd. When you ask Alexa to play something what is the response?
For Sonos if I say “Alexa play (eg Jenny Lewis) “ it says “Playing Jenny Lewis on bedroom” but there is silence!
In your Spotify account settings have you instructed Spotify to connect to the device?
Um…not sure – I don’t recall seeing that option in the Spotify app….
It should be in the settings.
“Connect to a Device.” Your router should be listed if your various devices are on the same WiFi network.
We have some different Sonos around the house which will play Spotify but they need a specific command, something like, “Alexa, play The Beatles on Spotify on Kitchen.” I set it up on the Alexa app but find it easier to use either the Sonos or Spotify app as asking Alexa is clunky.
I have an Echo in my workspace so it’s very straight forward. I just ask Alexa to play whatever and the response is simply “Playing ___ on Spotify.” Multi-room, multi-speakers would be as you say much clunkier.
As regards the mobile data bit, I’m successfully running nine different sonos devices with only 4G as the data input. (Still no broadband in my neck of the woods). I don’t hold with any Alexa malarkey but I use spotify for most things.
and don’t ask it to play Toto. Bit naff.
Funniest thread in weeks.
I would go mad with a set-up like that.
Y’all probably don’t like music very much.
🙂
Damn cheek!
We love music. We just happen to be lazy, mean and partially deaf as well.
You can add “old” to that too.😟
Any excuse to post this again
Probably because the Chinese government doesn’t approve of your taste in music.
What’s wrong with listening to Japanese Boy by Aneka on repeat for 18 hours straight? Bloody commies.
Or maybe, given it’s a Huawei router, there’s been a massive data leak and so the music is simply not getting through. Call up Gavin Williamson to see who he gave your songs to…….
