MIke Love’s Beach Boys touring jukebox are playing at a trophy hunters’ convention in Reno. Brian Wilson and Al Jardine are supporting a petition urging them to withdraw, and encouraging fans to botcott the band if they insist on playing. I know who I’m with…

I was going to post something about this, but I didn’t. It’s weird being a fan of a band containing a member one can’t stand. Occasionally I think I should try to see his side, and then he does something like this.
The good news is, I bought the Pet Sounds box set yesterday, reasonably priced. π
What a tosser.
He really doesn’t help himself, does he? I wouldn’t go and see them now anyway (having been at the final 50th anniversary concert with all surviving Beach Boys it would be something of an anticlimax), but Love has no shame it seems. Do they really need the money that badly…..or is this a deliberately provocative act I wonder….?
But there is something nice about it. Informed people know what a prick he was and is. Ut this will expose his arseholeness to a much wider audience.
When. I read about this I thought of that clip of Willie Nelson doing a song and Love in the studio telling him how to approach it. The hide of the man.
Reno eh? Where’s Johnny Cash when you need him?
Have some ups Foxie βββββ
The man is quite simply a feckin` shit stirer. He`ll anything to bring attention to his inflated ego and even worse to upset the true genius behind the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson.
Ironically, he went to Kokomo.
One thing I liked about the photo accompanying the story is the expression of utter contempt on Brian’s face.
To be fair, that’s not directed at Mike, that’s Brian in default setting on stage and has been for some years, poor old boy – a sort of blank but vague and unsettling stare into the middle distance. Fun Fun Fun.
