DTBs is an absolute cracker. They and the new Wilco album are making me wish I hadn’t got my money back when Black Deer cancelled last year…..
I think it should be a belter, @steveT
Mick’s album is my album of the year up to now. It will take a true classic to beat it.
As Black Cunt Tree Boy (AKA @SteveT) says in a moment of lucidity the Drive By Truckers album is a cracker. I’ve not played Mary Gauthier’s new album* yet. There have been some great albums released recently as The HJHs sang ‘It’s getting better, better, better’* (2022 for new music that is).
And there’s more promising stuff on the horizon.
Just what us music lovers need in these totally insane times.
I’ve loved Mick’s music all through the Pale Fountains, Shack and The Strands. He has kept up his high standard throughout and I still can’t believe he’s not better known
Finally got round to giving this a listen, it being as terrific as all say, the orchestral arrangements astonishing. Indeed an album of the year. I can see the Baron’s love as it is very Arthur Lee/Love in places. @andyourbirdcansing
I’m listening to Lady In Satin. Billie Holiday. Violets For Your Furs leapt out, because there’s a bit of it on Shack’s Time Machine. I’ve only just noticed.
Of course you also get a bit of Ella Fitzgerald’s Summertime at the beginning of Something Like You.
Nice album.
Very very good.
As are the Drive by Truckers and Mary Gauthier albums that arrived in the same package.
A Cracking month for new releases

Album of the year for me too, so far. Easily. Nice to see him in the proper album chart too.

So glad I had the foresight to approach the merch table before the gig commenced (Thekla, Tuesday). It was mobbed afterwards. What a fine album.

Impeccable taste, our Michael.
