We all know how this place matters to us.
This song, link in comments has been posted a few times. It is now our unofficial Christmas anthem. The blokes in clink. Maybe it’s a convict thing

Proud to say I’m one of the few, though it’s been a while.
Me and our little band have been delivering Christmas songs/carols to various care homes over the past couple of weeks, and I’m heartily sick of them. Nobody wanted to sing this one though – shame, because it’s one of my favourites, though it might have been a bit beyond our powers. Anyhow, have a dose of Adam Lay Ybounden, 1400 lyrics, 1922 tune by Boris Ord. Having made a man and a woman, it took God a fair old while to come up with gravy.
Yeah. We’ve gotta fix that Mike. Re the carol, I kept waiting for the ukes to kick in
Ah, I sing Adam-lay-y-bounden too. I do the Benjamin Britten version.
I’m an Ord man, because it was the first version I learned – at school.
The Retrospective Soundtrack Players – ‘No Man Is Poor Who Has Friends’ from their album It’s A Wonderful Christmas Carol.
TRSP were a spin-off from my beloved The Dawn Chorus, singer Kyle did a solo acoustic singalong version of this as an encore at TDC’s reunion gig in the summer and there was nary a dry eye in the house. I particularly love Paul Butler’s brass arrangement towards the end.
Merry Christmas, AWers.
Merry Christmas fellow travellers!
Here’s a jaunty little number to swing along to this Crimble morning:
I’m not in the slightest bit religious, but the Coventry Carol could melt the hardest heart. I’ve posted it on here before, but it never fails to send shivers up the back of my neck.
Happy Christmas to all of you and your loved ones.
Best wishes to all, especially those for whom the past year has been tinged with misfortune, sadness or loss as described elsewhere. May the forthcoming year bring better times.
