I logged onto the site the day the Springsteen tickets for Wembley summer went on sale, had the opportunity to buy, but beginning at over £100 for back rows of blocks furthest from the stage, which meant looking […]

Almost finished series three. It’s been very good throughout.

I wonder how many of the audience will watch the Steely Dan set then go home?

I agree with Blue Boy. Appreciate Afterword as a source of entertainment and civilised debate on a range of issues. Happy New Year all.

Jason Rebello. Teenage prodigy of British jazz in the late 80s then got into jazzy funk stuff and spent time in Sting’s band, but a few years ago began playing shows on solo piano. His album ‘Held’ is […]

I thought he was excellent in Homicide. Probably not someone you’d want to work with, but as a character in a TV drama he made a great contribution to the mix.

The Mrs and I saw ‘Guys and Dolls’ at the Bridge Theatre in London. Superb production and we had interactive tickets, which meant on our feet, moving as the stages moved and close to the cast. It was terrific in […]

We were in the Waterloo area on that night last year. They created havoc; screwed up all the surrounding roads and made a horrible din. Not a way for an expat community to endear themselves to the locals.

And another point to make – David Bradley should be made an honorary Doctor Who. He played William Hartnell in the 2013 dramatisation of the launch, and was perfect as the first Doctor crossing swords with Capaldi […]

I can just about remember William Hartnell in the role, and watched regularly through to Tom Baker. Drifted away from it early teens because I was out at Saturday tea times, and in those days if you weren’t at […]

Not too busy with Halloween knockers in our square. We had a lighted skull in the window but only enough kids knocked to give away half of the sweets we had laid in. Oh well, suppose I’ll have to eat them.

Naah! They still did a lot of great stuff when Mick Taylor was in the band. It was once he left that they lost their edge in the recording studio.

rotherhithe hack commented on the post, Abstinence v moderation – an interesting discussion 8 months, 2 weeks ago
I wonder if, for some of us, our bodies are effective in telling us when to lay off. I’ll have a few over most weekends – less than when I was younger – but by Monday I just don’t want to think of it for a few days.

Never big Wham fans at the time, but me and the Mrs found it an entertaining watch, and good to see a music doc in which no-one was complaining about a former friend.

Mid 2000s The Proclaimers played a free gig at the annual carnival at our local park. I think they were on a bit of a low at the time, but they rocked the place.

There’s a decent art gallery and city museum, almost next door to each other; waterfront to south of city centre; and central streets are a nice place to mooch about with plenty of old Victorian buildings. Also a […]

Happy Valley – Superb in every respect. Mrs Maisel – Still great fun, despite the sour twists in the story, and they wrapped it up at just the right time. The Diplomat – Very good political drama, with plenty of […]
