Back in the mid-70s the Ostfriesen stereotype was clearly “not too bright”, @salwarpe. I can’t remember any of the actual jokes at 50 years’ remove, but they were all based around that premise.

Beautiful! NB on my first visit to Germany – an exchange trip to Olpe in Nordrhein Westfalen over Easter in 1975 – I learned that jokes about Ostfriesen were the (local?) equivalent of Irish jokes told by the English.
