I was going to post a rant after yesterday’s horrendous death toll. Other countries are suffering. Cases are on the rise again here in Spain, and all non-essential businesses have closed. But the messaging is […]

Some great memories there. I don’t remember Smedley sausage rolls in a tin, but they sound like the perfect hors d’oeuvre to Corsair Tinned Chicken. What a feast.

Biden will make a call for unity, but as Dana Milbank argues in today’s Washington Post, there can be no unity without truth and accountability. There are still 150 or so Republican lawmakers in Congress who deny […]

I heard he invented consciousness, and has learned to communicate with over three hundred species of trees, but the olive remains tight-lipped.

Slight tangent, but there is some great cricket chat to be had on Youtube. Sky did a series of lockdown zoom calls with David Lloyd, Botham, Paul Allott and others. There was a lovely Bob Willis tribute.

A new satellite with a narrower footprint was launched about seven years ago, and it screwed things up for receiving UK tv via satellite in Spain. You need at least a 3m dish now to pick up the signal in the south […]

I thought I wasn’t going to be all that bothered about this album. There’s quite a lot to take in at first. But repeated listens have revealed the beautiful textures and melodies and now I’m hooked!

I still think Trespass is a great album. Without Hackett or Collins. I think the late James Blast rated it their best. That pastoral sound persisted into their ’70s work, but went AWOL with The Lamb Lies Down on […]

Genesis trainspotters can compare the guitar motif from 3.40 – 4.04 with a short instrumental passage on ‘Looking for Someone’ (3.17 – 3.34).
And here’s a […]

The Genesis narrative is a familiar one. A band of gauche public schoolboys with a charismatic front man lose two of their number early on, but then make two key signings. Drummer […] -
